The Problem
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the education industry is experiencing a shift towards remote and offline learning. Many children from low-income families cannot afford laptops to access educational content, as the government is unable to meet the demand for educational laptops during lockdown.
To address this challenge, our team at Corona Think Tank developed an interactive educational video platform that can be accessed through an Android TV with a Raspberry Pi and USB. However, due to a lack of volunteers, we were only able to prototype the platform and were not able to fully implement it.
The lack of access to educational content puts disadvantaged children at a further disadvantage in their education, potentially widening the achievement gap.
The Result
While the platform was only in the prototyping stage, the potential benefits of providing easy access to educational content for disadvantaged children are significant.
The platform has the potential to promote continued learning and engagement beyond the lockdown period, ultimately helping to close the achievement gap and promote equal opportunities for all children in education.
